The Road to 1 Billion Begins…Now.
Lehigh’s 100MM Tire announcement marks the beginning of the Road to 1 Billion. This effort is aimed at putting 1 billion tires on the road that have been manufactured using Lehigh’s sustainable micronized rubber material - PolyDyne™. Our hope is that this campaign catalyzes an industry-wide effort to increase the environmental contributions of the tire industry through the use of innovative, sustainable materials, including reducing the consumption of oil in the production of new tires.
Less Oil, Less Money at the Pump, Less in the Landfill.
Today’s tire story is about better rolling resistance, which means less oil to be drilled for the production of gasoline, and less money spent at the pump for consumers. Tomorrow’s tire story is about better rolling resistance, plus more sustainable materials to produce the greenest tire possible, while achieving cost, performance, and safety goals. When a tire company uses Lehigh’s micronized rubber powder, they are being environmentally conscious – saving oil, energy, greenhouse gas emissions, and tires from landfills. When a consumer buys a tire with sustainable content, they are helping the environment and playing a role in solving the important issue of end-of-life tires.
Why Lehigh Technologies.
Lehigh Technologies is committed to research and development, pushing the boundaries through science and technology in reusing highly engineered compounds into new tires. Our Application & Development Center was built to help customers develop new sustainable products faster, showing them how to incorporate micronized rubber powder in their formulations. To get sustainable technology adopted, a product must perform as well as reduce cost. This is what our micronized rubber powder does, and this is why we believe so strongly in our mission.
